Art Of Bee Keeping

Maximal honey production occurs when the most worker bees are present
at the same time that the nectar flow is on.
For pollination growers are looking for a surplus of foraging bees.
The colony is composed of a single queen, workers (infertile females), drones (males), and brood (eggs larvae and pupae).
The hive is kept in a box called a super.

The colony of bees accumulates a surplus of honey and pollen
to eat and survive in hard times.
We take honey from the honey super,
a box with a queen excluder so the queen can not lay eggs .
During the nectar flow the bee population should be high.
30,000 to 60,000+ bees in each super.

In winter the colony is about 6,000 bees.
The bees cluster around the queen keeping it at 90 degees.
